2007 Toyota Tundra: Hot Hot Heat

I was up in Simi Valley yesterday. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Southland Region, it's basically north west of Los Angeles proper and just south of the Sun.

Yes, it gets hot up there. Really hot...

The outside temp gauge was reading 108. I was scouting photo locations in the area so I was constantly stopping, getting out, walking around and then getting back into the truck. It was after my longest excursion outside the truck that I noticed the vent to the right of the steering wheel had gone wonky.

I'd adjust it to blow right into my face, then it would lazily float back to a center up position. The vent had the worst timing as I was near melting. My only remedy was max AC, full throttle fan and lean into the left vent.

The Tundra has a scheduled maintenance coming up soon so we'll get it checked out.

Is it just me, or is one of the buttons to the left of the vent labeled 'sonar'?

The thing's about as big as a submarine though.

Ahhh...just like my old Geo Prism/Toyota Corolla AC vents did.

You folks are hotter there now than you were last year at this time (I "enjoyed" that just before leaving for Oregon).

Just wait until August - any bets S. Calif. hit +120 by then?

There's enough space in the trunk to carry multiple torpedos.
I knew Toyota built this to go to war with the Ford F-150.
But which truck is quieter to avoid the sonar? shhhhhhhhhh.

Well Ford might just pull a Crazy Ivan.

Crazy Ivan is definitely deadly but it has to be performed at the right timing in order to be effective.

With the gas approaching $5/gallon...

I just returned a rental that was a Tundra and the vent was doing the same thing. Either all up or all down.
