Thanks in part to the fan-freaking-tastic driving experience (Al Austria's post is completely wrong) there hasn't been much mention of the bits of the car that don't have an M preceded by three stripes on 'em
This weekend, with temperatures hovering in the low-mid 90's, the only things I was happier to have in this car on my jaunt through the canyons than, of course, the screaming inline-6 and ultra-grippy Yokohama Advan Neovas were the power-operated rear vent windows.
Giving the otherwise trapped air a place to go with the windows down, utilizing these little guys instantly cools the interior and reduces that nasty wind buffeting caused by an open sunroof.
It's a handy feature that I wish was available on more cars. Things like this --and sliding doors -- shouldn't be relegated to the land of the mini van...

BMW deleted the power rear vent windows on the E92's (2007+ 3-Series coupe). I wish they hadn't - I really liked those too. However, I must say that even with the moonroof and both windows fully open, wind buffeting is surprisingly not an issue, at least in the front seats.

I had these (manual of course) on my old Dodge Colt. It was great.

The cool thing about those on my Colt (1983) was I could reach both from the drivers seat.

What does this entry have to do with hideous, porcine freaks? Hmmmm...:)
Maybe those vent windows helped de-smellify the car, adding to your driving pleasure...

Actually, Al the windows were necessary for de-smelling the M3. I don't know why, but it smells like a box of old, hot crayons in there and the windows need to be open to avoid it.

As a person who owns a BMW that really smells like crayons, let me say that the M3 does not smell bad at all. Maybe it gets bad when it's hot, but it's not offensively bad in any way. The M3 doesn't smell new, but it certainly doesn't smell like a cadaver as Al said.
I'll have to take Mike and Al for a drive in my Z3 to show them what a real crayon mobile smells like. That'll show'em.
And now, the M3 blog has officially turned into an inter-Edmunds feud.
