2007 Saturn Aura XR: Battle Scars

Life ain't easy in the concrete jungle -- just ask our long-term Saturn Aura. As I threw my bag in the back after a softball game last night, I noticed some paint-less pockmarks on the driver-side rear bumper. Appparently some nefarious jungle-dweller (a renegade shopping cart, perhaps?) had sunk its teeth into our Aura's hindquarters at some point. And that's not all; I gave the poor Saturn a once-over in the daylight this morning and spotted another unhealed wound on the front fascia...

I remember a couple decades back they'd put these big black rubber coated things on the ends of cars to keep those scrapes off of the painted body work. Kind of like those strips they put on the edge of the door, only big enough for the whole end of the car.

I think they called them bumpers.

"I think they called them bumpers."

Yep, it is funny how a part of the car that was originally designed to protect it from 'bumps' with other cars turned into just another painted, fragile portion of the car.

You're right. Its all about style today. Form over function...

Why hasn't there been a post yet asking about scrapes on the Accord's bumper?

Honda's bumpers don't scape, only Saturns.

Aren't Saturns made out of recycle crap anyways? no surprises here at all.

Actually they're made out of recycled babies and puppies. I heard it from my neighbor's Aunt who owns a Saturn.

The people at Edmunds: Update on the Aura's steering issues, please!

Actually, the Aura is made out of all steel, thought that was widely known.

Anyway have fun driving your toaster...er I mean Toyota.
