2007 Saturn Aura XR: Heat Wave!

Southern California is undergoing its first heat wave of 2008. Yesterday, the outside temperature gauge in our 2007 Saturn Aura XR reached as high as 104 degrees. It isn't yet the hottest part of the day, and already the gauge is sitting at 101 degrees. And I live in "the OC," a county that sits pretty much entirely on the coastal plain...

I've celebrated GM air conditioning systems in the past. Even during the 7 year period I lived in Phoenix, Arizona, the ultra-cold outlet air temperature from the A/C vents cooled the cabins down in a hurry and gave the impression that you could hang meat in the things.

But our Aura doesn't impress me nearly as much. The air coming out of the vents is cool, but not as ice cold as other products from The General. Yesterday, it never seemed to get cool enough for the automatic temperature control system to back down the fan speed from high. Performance seemed about average or below--like Hondas of old.

I wonder if the fact that this Aura is based on a European-developed platform has anything to do with it?

What's the weather like where YOU are?

Any other Aura owners notice the same thing about their A/C?
