2007 Mitsubishi Outlander: Family Hauler, Of Sorts

I've had the chance to drive our Outlander many times over the last year. Mostly because it serves my photography purposes well.

It's fast, it carries a decent amount of gear and it has a smooth ride. It also has a good nav system just in case we need to find a new location and/or if we get lost...
So it's kind of sad to know that the car is going to depart our ranks soon. I've grown found of the paddle shifters, the hard drive music system and it's fun drive factor. It makes those long drives back from photo shoots much more enjoyable.

I was gonna say..... the real hauler's in the background.

Keep that thing away from the Viper. I don't want the Viper to catch Mitsu disease.

Relax and take comfort. Now that Mitsu is free of Chrysler, it’s products are engineered correctly (to Mitsu standards) instead of crudely. The Outlander and Nitro are on the same platform sharing the same basic engine design, yet the Nitro is complete garbage when compared to the Outlander in every review I’ve read. So Mitsu is free of the Chrysler toxins and I couldn’t be happier. So yes, please keep the Mitsu's away from the toxins!

Yeah, whatever. You can drive your Mitsu Evo and be in Mitsu heaven. I'll take the Viper, toxins and all.

Mitsubishi hardly has a great engineering reputation. In fact, some of their "engineering" is almost pathetic.

Well, this is just ridiculous. The Evo X is a cutting-edge sports sedan that competes favorably with the best the world has to offer. And Mitsubishi's "pathetic" engineering delivered the World Rally Champhionship four years in a row.

Yes and no. You can't forget that the driver, Mr. Tommi Mäkinen, was part of the equation. I have the same birthday as him. :o)

(Playing devil's advocate) *If* Mitsubishi's engineering is so great, why is Tommi Mäkinen Racing LTD a distributor and supplier of Group N Subaru rally cars and accessories and parts? Hehehe =Þ He also has been involved with the development of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI in recent years, too.

Where did you get that idea? The Outlander is a front drive car platform (the Lancer platform actually)and the Nitro is a rear drive truck(same as it's clone the Liberty).

The engines have nothing in common either.
