2008 Scion xB: Covet Thy Carpet

I've been coveting a red wool rug at Pier 1 for the past six weeks, patiently waiting for the floral beauty to go on sale.

On Sunday, after a month of watching me stalk the store, my husband had enough.

"Just buy the thing already, wouldja?" he begged. "Buy it now, today, while you have a car big enough to haul the rug, you, and your crazy obsessions home at the same time."

Just the words of encouragement I needed...

In the Scion xB I raced to the store and forced the weary sales woman to remove the 6 x 9-foot area rug from the overhead display. (Of course I had waited so long, all that was left was the display model).

I easily dropped the xB's rear seat backs and loaded the rug into the car.

A pefect fit. Both in the Scion, and in my home office.

Why does the xB have a single reverse lamp on the rear bumper? Is that really what I'm seeing there? Is it on the left-hand side because that's the driver's side? I can't recall any other car I've seen that had only one back-up light.

Yep, one backup light - go figure. Edmunds, how about you try out the TRD shocks/struts/springs/sway bar? That would perk this xB's handling right up!

Yes, i caught the one light (AKA the pimple) on the vehicle's introduction. In Toyota's home market, it would be on the passenger side. I have no idea why they wouldn't change the bumper mold to have a matching light on the other side. I guess to keep the costs down.

Who needs a huge truck to haul big things?

I think the Mini Cooper has/had a single back-up light.
Am I right ?

No need to get TRD, a nice Eibach spring set with maybe the sway bar will transform the xB perfectly.

You know, you probably spent as much money in gas traveling to Pier 1 each day coveting thy rug.

carfreak, I believe the previous generation Mini had the single back-up lamp. I think it was in the center towards the bottom of the car.

The second backup light is optional and included in the Non-Stupid Appearance Package.

The new Dodge Challenger also has only one backup light I believe. But its in the middle so it looks cool.
