2008 Ford Focus Coupe: Junk in the Trunk

I recently left our Ford Focus at the airport as I took a quick trip to Chicago. The trunk space was just about right and could have held much more - seems about perfect for a weekend trip for two. Our SES Coupe has the audiophile sound system and that means a subwoofer. As you can see, that eats up a little space...

The box that houses that sub is a little flimsy but it does the job.

Technically it doesn't take up any more room than the week housing on the other side of the trunk....but...good gawd does it look like it takes up a lot of space!

Looks like Ford has it's butt kicked by Mitsubishi...

Like I said before, I don't think Ford is even trying.

i believe the L side would be more flush without the sub -

The trunk on my Cobalt coupe is waaaay bigger. Sadly the opening is about as small. At least Ford was thoughtful enough to use struts.
