Behold! Our long-term Mitsubishi Outlander's climate control knobs. Our Mitsubishi Lancer GTS has the same set of dials, which have been praised for their simplicity and knob-liness in the past. And while I agree that they are simple and clean, I do have two main gripes:
1) Thin, flimsy plastic: I have more confidence twisting the cap off my bottle of Odwalla Superfood Amazing Purple juice drink than when adjusting the Outlander's loose, clickity knobs...
2) Bad position: Said silver knobs sit a couple of inches below the housing for the MMCS screen, which juts forward a bit and overshadows the climate control knobs, leaving them in, well, shadows and making them difficult to see when you're glancing quickly.

This is the same climate control design as in my dads 07 Sebring. I like how the knobs turn around the stationary face. The most user-friendly I have yet to encounter.

As far as cheap, clickety switches, anyone noticed how awful Mercedes switchgear is lately? Almost every other car I visited at NAIAS had better feel to its HVAC controls. Except the Chinese cars.
Having owned a Mitsu, this apparently how it works. Most things have a fairly high quality look or feel. Then you find something that makes you go" Boy, thats a really cheap touch." I guess all cars can be like this, but it seems really obvious in Mitsubishis.
