There it is, folks. Where the magic happens. The 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport with a six-speed manual is now officially perfect. As our dedicated blog readers know, we all pretty much love the G35, EXCEPT for the clutch...
Well during a recent service we discovered that there was a slave-cylinder recall and Infiniti promptly fixed it. Good for them. Big ups to Infiniti for stepping up to make this car even better. The G35 is now officially phenomenal. I have always loved it, but the past few nights, I have essentially driven it from our Santa Monica office the scant mile or so to my palatial Santa Monica estate. Last night I drove it in rush-hour traffic (the true test of a p.i.a. clutch) and found it to be absolutely pleasant. Of course, the 10 p.m. return trip was the real reason I drove it. Oh baby! LOVE this car. So much so that my bass player wants the sedan (his wife has an '06 G35 coupe) and I already encouraged an old friend up north to lease a G35 sedan (and he loves it also).

Sorry, I couldn't get over the part that you live a mile from work and drive to work!
Is the clutch recall retro-fitted to unsold cars on the lot? Or only after they come in for a service and/or the owner complains?

The irony is not lost on me either, desmo. I used to walk to work all the time, and still do from time to time.
Don't know. It was a Technical Service Bulletin. I'm guessing it's better PR to fix 'em so people won't turn away from the car due to the clutch.

I love my cars and motorbikes, but I would kill to be a mile from work. Of course that would mean that work would have to move closer to me as I aint leavin' da beach!
The morning commute of 'crawl, stop, crawl, stop' just isn't fun. But to be be able to grab a longboard and just skate down to the office...

Doug, I play the bass too. Can I afford a G35 playing gigs? lol

Doug...you're gushing.
lol, it pained me that this beautiful car had such a stupid problem. I'm glad that's over with

How is the shifter?

Sabastian does have a good question, as Nissan (not so sure about infiniti) never has gotten praise for their shifters. Definitely a turn off when I looked at the previous generation Maxima. I don't ever recall reading any criticism of the G's linkage though.

Shifter's great. It was the clutch pedal that was the issue. Throws are short tight.

"Throws are short tight."
Hmm...Suddenly the G35/37 looks mighty tempting again...

Thoughts on the preowned 2002 M3 vs the resurrected 2007 G35 Sport?

Did that TSB affect the G37???

The G37 was fixed from the get-go.

Does this include the 2007 Coupe (previous gen)???

The 2007 Coupe is a G35, not a G37. I would be included to think it doesn't, dat2. As I've never driven a 2007 G35 Coupe, James or anyone else who has driven one probably can confirm this.
