2007 Infiniti G35 S: Perfectly Fine

Our Long Term G35 is sort of like a really cute girl you might meet at the supermarket, a really cute girl that would be great for someone else. The G35 S  is good looking, comfortable, quick, fun and stylish - all great qualities. It's just that the car doesn't have that certain something - FOR ME.

I'm not sure if it's the stiff seats or the stiff ride, I just don't find myself really connecting with the car...

Certainly, I would not get the S model - my perfect G35 would be a Journey with two options. True Market Value pricing is about $35,000.

Yes our G35 S has an amazing engine and the 6 speed manual has perfectly spaced gears. It's also very attractive - I can certainly see how others would fall for this car. I'll bet G35 owners are the type that never look at another car twice knowing the car they have is all they've ever wanted. And I can't blame them.

One thing I do like is Infiniti's presentation. I like the somewhat premium looking interior  with plenty of chrome trim and that oval clock. The audio system is also very good with plenty of different media options. The G35 really is a great car - just  not for me.

Funny I view the G35 as the girl who got cleaned up but still has some rough edges. She looks nice and she's mostly presentable but pay more attention and you'll hear her mix verb tenses or screw up her pronouns. She's from a domestic beer background and it'll show once in awhile.

The IS350 - the bland girl from a family that's made it but really she's just dependable, boring and always presentable.

BMW 3 series - the rebel with money. She went to the right schools and has the right pedigree yet she's not going to change totally for anyone. She may be the perfect date or may possibly steal your wallet and leave you stranded because she knows you'll put up with it or you can take a flying leap.

haha, and that leaves the CTS as the girl next door that grew up to be smokin' hot.

3er - The perfect mistress during the warranty period (might get ugly afterward)

G35 - The perfect girlfriend

IS350 - The perfect wife who can get wild once a while

C350 - The perfect Stepford wife

CTS - The perfect escort...

louiswei, I could not agree any more.

I sort of feel the same way about the G. It represents a great value, but when I see one go by, I don't have the urge to stand and stare at it. The G37 is a bit of a different story, and I think (for me) it comes down to the looks. The G35 just doesn't look special enough. It's kind of the same story with the 3-series. The CTS and the C-class sport on the other hand are beautiful even if they aren't as fast or don't handle as well.

I used to work for a guy who described a Jaguar as "like a mistress. When she needs something, she'll whisper in your ear. If you don't listen, she'll run off and have an expensive affair with your mechanic."

I always saw them as follows:

G35-the kid from a family of underachievers who's determined to succeed. Worked his rear off to get where he is, but still has a way to go before he's fully accepted.

IS-he comes from a rich and uptight old-money type family. Was a bit of a wild child and a black sheep at first, but the family sent him off to school. He came back more mature, relaxed and polished, but people who knew him before think he's boring now, like the rest of his family.

C-class-another rich kid from a powerful family, quick to throw his name around to hide the fact that he really isn't good at anything.

CTS-the wild child, hooligan type, who isn't afraid to stand out and be different. Not concerned with being everyone's friend, just fine marching to his own beat.

3-series-that good-looking, over-achieving jock, that all the chicks like and all his peers wish they could be.

I could not agree more! It's an excellent car, but I find it as appealing as shopping for a vacuum. I just don't have any interest for it.

LouisWei - I agree with everything except the G35.

G35 - The fun-loving girl you can't help but have a fantastic time with. Sometimes she's a little too wild and embarasses you, though.

I totally agree the G35 is hugely fun to drive and nothing is particularly wrong with it. I just don't like it. I love sliding around in them but I just would not have one. I'll take the most beautiful girl at the party the CTS.

Second try...

3er - The perfect mistress during the warranty period (might get ugly afterward) G35 - The perfect roommate (friend with benefit)
IS350 - The perfect wife who can get wild once a while
C350 - The perfect Stepford wife
CTS - The perfect escort...

I look at the specs and I read the reviews and I think, "Yeah, I could buy this car."

Then I see it on the road. The back end, especially the taillights -- looks cheap, like a Nissan is trying to do something cool but is "so 1995."

It's a million miles away from being any kind of long-term, as in "still looks good, glad I bought this car."

Revised:

CTS - Maybe she's cool but she's from a really bad family and she's overweight. I'm shallow so I stop at that point.

A4 - cute chubby girl with emotional issues. She won't embarrass you but she's not gonna impress you or anyone else. She'll probably fall apart in a major way in the not-too-distant future.

C class - snot with no personality.

IS - daddy made it big, she's bland, predictable and hasn't got an ounce of fun or creativity in her.

G35 - trying hard to be classy but still she'll swear in public and she definitely gets less refined the more you're around her.

3 series - can be controlled, can be fun, demands lots of TLC and she will break your heart for fun.

TL - nerd from a lawyer family; goes unnoticed. She's not much fun but she won't hurt you either.

In my opinion,
CTS-sexy girl who isnt afraid to stand out

G35-Wild girl to have a good time with, but not good for the long term

C-Class-Rich snob with nice logo's, but isn't good at much

A4-Slightly overweight and a little slow, but attractive and under the radar in public and not so reliable to get stuff done

3-series-Athletic girl who is fairly attractive and all the jocks like

TL-non offensive, shy girl who is ok looking but not very excting

IS-Typical looking girl without much of a personality but will always be there for you

May I first just say that this is probably the most creative bunch of blog entries I have ever read. Hilarious too.

On another note, I really like the G35 and could see myself owning it if I was shopping in this class. I find it refreshing, like the BMW 3-Series, because it knows what it is. The G35 is a sport sedan through and through and you are going to have to make some concesions to live with it.

Infiniti gets it with the G35. It is about substance not style, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I think we should do this for every blog...until it gets old.

These replies have cracked me up. Blueguy beat me to calling the CTS the "fat girl" of the entry lux segment.

I think you forgot the Acura TSX: that anemic girl from down the street, she has a very friendly personality, but goes unoticed by most, and rejected by the rest becuse she has a small chest(4 cyl. engine), and average-at-best- looks. Every once in a while she will open up and let you have some fun, but those occasions are few and far between.

louiswei says:

TSX?

Oh, she's just the little (and not yet legal...) sister of the "nerd from a lawyer family; goes unnoticed. She's not much fun but she won't hurt you either", or in other words: TL.

estreka says:

M3 - Older sister of 335i. Too grown up for you but my gosh is she hoooooot.

Genesis - A really cheap date with tons of potential. She's well endowed (V8) and has the moves to match (6-speed). She's new in town though, so nobody knows what to make of her yet. She's not quite a knockout, but she's definately a solid 7.5.

300 - Looks good in an athletic kind of way. Once she gets something on her mind though, she won't shut up about it.

Passat - Looks ok but is way too needy for anyone's good. Definately the type to "borrow" money and offer nothing in return. Will extort from you without a second thought.

louiswei says:

11:21 PM, 02/20/08

IS F - Big sister of IS350. She wears a suit and works at Wall Street during day but at night she parties hard. She's also into extreme sports during weekends and knows how to have a great time on the bed...

Anybody got something for C63 and RS4?

scorp76 says:

08:03 AM, 02/21/08

IS-F: The recent college grad, who is just now breaking into the real world, but still wet behind the ears. His peers dont take him seriously since he's pretty inexperienced, but they watch him with one eye, knowing he could be a threat once he's learned how to play the game.

C63: The senior of the group, trying hard to run with his more athletic and youthful peers. He's a little gray and has a gut, but has plenty of muscle as well. The others know, however, that he'll get tired easily and won't be able to keep up for long.

RS4: The honed athlete, determined to excel at everything. Naturally graceful and clever, he'll take everything you throw at him with ease, and it takes a LOT to get him to lose his composure.

M3: He's got a trophy case full of awards and a wall covered in plagues, and they're all well-deserved. He's now a mature adult, but some say he's better than ever. Still fun to be around, still the envy of his peers, he appears unstoppable.

louiswei says:

Scorp76, those are awesome descriptions for the 4 cars, let me try to use NFL QBs to illustrate that further...

IS F: Matt Leinart

C63: Brett Favre

RS4: Tony Romo

M3: Tom Brady
