We'd all like to think automakers are looking out for our best interests. Maybe they ensure that our car's doors unlock in the case of a rollover. Maybe they have a telematics system to automatically call emergency services if an airbag deploys. Maybe they provide a warning light if our window washer fluid gets too low...
Well, god bless those folks at Ford, they want to make sure our GT's tires are properly inflated. As this tire pressure warning sticker in the driver's door jamb clearly states, we should inflate the Ford GT's Goodyear Eagle F1s to 40 psi "when driving over 150 mph."
Good to know.

doesn't that just make you feel all warm and fuzzy?
but if they really cared, they'd have a system to automagically raise the tire pressure for you. heh

Karl, are your pressures already set at 40psi? Mine would be, cuz the temptation to floor it on some piece of open road would be just too much.
Route 33, ahem...

Route 33 has some potential, but where 33 intersects 166 -- that east-west section of 166 has some great straights.
All in theory, of course...

where is the shot of the speedo at over 150? I figured the post would have one of those "professional driver, closed course shots" :)

bimmerjay- which BMW model are you driving? Now that is funny. I should post a pic of my four banger at it's 118mph governer, lol.

Hmmm, I wonder why GM doesn't offer these kind words of advice? My '02 Z06 has the same tires as the Ford GT, and I didn't notice any warning labels or anything in the owners manual about increasing the tire pressure for speeds in excess of 150. Maybe its a weight thing? I think the C5 Z06 is lighter than the Ford GT. Or maybe GM doesn't care the way Ford cares?
I had my car up to 155 the other week (well short of its 176 MPH actual top speed), and I was running the stock 30 psi tire pressures. I wonder if my tires were at risk of rupturing at that speed and pressure? I never heard of this actually.

Stingray - That's what the extra $80K buys you.

I'm not going to knock it - while I really like my Z06, I love the Ford GT. One of my favorite cars of all time.
