2008 Mazda CX-9: MP3s to My Ears

As if the Mazda CX-9's driving dynamics, functionality and interior design aren't reason enough to love it, I recently tried out its auxiliary audio input with my iPhone. Guess what? It works! Yeah, not a big deal to most of you, but this is my first i-Anything, so the concept of simply plugging in a cable and hearing your own 2 gigs/500 songs worth of music is still relatively new to me...

Pretty cool.

Must not be lossless format then. But still that's cool. Welcome to the club.

Wow; you got an iPhone.
I didn't think people still actually wanted one.
Ha ha.
Do you like it ?
( Off-topic, I know )

carfreak, I see you've learned some HTML tags by using boldface type in one of your other comments. I give you credit for taking the time to learn something like that at the age of 13 instead of using all your time to watch TV/play Xbox/PlayStation.

For Karl's thoughts on his iPhone, you can read the entry he made about it and his Treo 650 on his other blog.

Also off-topic --

nsu300z, would lossless sound any better when connected in this fashion, via analog? (I don't think digital connection exists in this scenario...)

And what recording format/player would you use for lossless-recording playback? I'm a bit of a noob on this; wondering if you have such a setup.

Karl, Where did you get that cable? iPhone has a propietary jack, and you seem to have one that switches to a regualar RCA jack for the Mitsu.

Carfreak has a point, when the iphone first came out, everyone was interested. Now I don't know anyone who still is.

Is it's 15 minutes of fame past?

sellis16 - in this vehicle one probably would not hear the difference. With my stereo set up in my car yes I do hear a difference. As for players, the Zune, most Creative products and some Iriver products. there are others, but I don't know off the top of my head.

Wow, I'm more impressed that you got a cable to hook it up, as Apple was awful enough to give the iphone a completely unique out jack. Hope you bought the extended warranty on that thing. When my ipod broke out of the box, the jerks at the Apple store refused to fix it unless I bought the extended warranty, even though it was still covered under the original warranty. I will never buy from Apple again after that scam.

I encode all my tracks in lossless and I think you can hear the difference when connected through the mini stereo jack in my 3 (w/ Bose system). There's less of that buzzy fuzzy tinny sound you get with 128kbps MP3s and AACs. I refuse to buy iTunes tracks because of this. It's a classic case of GIGO (garbage in- garbage out)so you want to feed your system as much quality as possible

I got the cable at the local Apple store. You can buy just about anything for an iPhone...assuming the initial $399 price hasn't already burned through your allowance.

You guys have a "local" Apple store ?
Wow.
In Florida, I've never even seen an Apple store.
Ha ha.

There's an Apple store in Austin, too.

Speaking of music devices, could cartridges be making a comeback with the surge in digital formats? It makes sense.

Apple Store locations? There are several near me, the closest being about 10 miles away.

I buy all my Apple computers from my maintenance service provider, as I can get a good discount from them. In fact I just ordered a new MacPro with a 500GB HD and 5GB of Ram yesterday.

Theres an apple store in south florida. Its in the mall called the Falls. Beautiful place actually!

They have wireless internet and all the current and a few previous ipods on display and you go up and just use them. I went with my friends and I used the touch for internet. Actually I came to insideline on it! From the Iphone, and a mac camera we took waky pictures, oddly color pictures and funhouse mirrors pictures and sent them to our myspaces!
