I took our 2007 Toyota Tundra in last Friday for its 10,000-mile service. The manual calls for an oil/filter change and tire rotation. In a welcome change of pace, the dealership's service advisor wrote me up for those items only â I didn't have to haggle over unwanted dealer add-ons like inspections or road tests...
As always, you can post dealership reviews on Edmunds' Dealer Ratings & Reviews feature.
I also checked our truck's fuel log today. Alas, we seem to be missing about 3,000 miles of information. But as it stands, we're averaging 15.0 mpg, a little above the EPA's combined average estimate of 14 mpg. I'll update this post if I'm able to track down the missing 3,000 miles.

Nothing but good news for the Tundra in this post. By the way, has the Silverado returned to the fleet yet?

0w20? I guess Toyota opted for the lightest of oils to help improve economy. I wonder though: can that oil weight withstand a rigorous truck environment?
And don't think I'm your normal "change your oil every 3k" type of guy. I'm running 0w30 AMSOIL in my 06 Civic SI for extended intervals and I'm about to conduct my first oil analysis (using blackstone labs) to see if I'm being wise, if I should cut back, or go longer.
I'd think a 5w40 would offer a good intermediate in an application like this. But maybe the Tundra received 0w20 because of it's current lifestyle?

What kind of mileage does the Tundra get when it's towing the Silverado to the dealership? ::snicker::

COMSUMERAFFAIRS WROTE ,....Like other manufacturers, GM is often reluctant to publicly admit problems. Instead, it describes such things as banging engines in brand-new trucks as "perfectly normal," while secretly buying back vehicles from consumers who are assertive to retain a lawyer. It's been playing this little game lately with its full-sized pickups and SUVs...
Dont worry ,Edmunds check is in the mail for the Silverado.

Ahhh, give it a rest. Both Toyota and GM pickups have had their share of problems.
Want a good truck? Buy an F150 or a Ram.

toyota4life, Consumer Affairs is a bogus web site. Anybody can post any libel on there. There's plenty of endless emotional, non-clear thinking arguments on it.
Absolutely no credibility.

^ Exactly. And as any Accord/Aura blog here can attest to, we lack that emotional connection with the cars we discuss here.

lol, estreka. Funny how snoozers like the Accord and Aura are the ones that people get all emotional about.
