I recently had the good fortune to return to my favorite place in my Edmunds life: the driver seat of the 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport. What a spectacular machine! The clutch issue has definitely been significantly improved, although the action is no less responsive. The engine note is still a magnificent rumble, the driver seat is firm and supportive, the steering is bowstring tight, the doors close like a vault, and damn I LOVE the way the thing looks...
Now, if any of my fellow editors are reading this: The car stinks. It's absolutely terrible, it's obscenely dangerous and unsafe, and I can't say anything good about it. In fact, for the good of all of my beloved co-workers, I am volunteering to throw myself in harm's way each and every night for the next few months and continue to test and report on this car myself. I just can't let any of you drive it, in any sort of good conscience. It's for your own good.
That's just what kind of stand-up cat I am.

Sounds a little like the scam Ed is running with the M3. :)

i think that since the car is so dangerous, i will buy the vehicle from the edmunds fleet. i'll even pay $2000 more than what it's worth (according to doug, it's a POS so that would make it worth $0)

Funny post!
Nice picture too - looks like the suspension is pretty well loaded up in that turn - must have been taking it at a good clip!

It seemed as if the only negative thing talked about regarding the G35 was the clutch issue. Thank goodness that it's been resolved at last. Now we'll find out if the manual is preferred over the auto.
BTW Doug, has there ever been a vehicle which editors actually had to fight over it?

Nope. Editors don't really fight over cars. We have a list based on seniority, position and need for testing. But the M3 is probably the most popular, as are the Benz C300 and the Mini. Altima's a great car, and of course (my) beloved G35. Less so are the Fit and the (former) Versa. Oh, and the Aura.
Clutch is great.

Just noticed that the G35 too does not have a front plate. Any plans to fix this? I dont think a front plate would ruin this car.

Recently went from a G35 to an Audi A4 and have the exact same observation. I was surprised to hear it mentioned that the G35's "obscenely dangerous and unsafe", does anybody else notice this? I never read it in magazines - perhaps it fits under "unrefined behavior". When driven back to back with a german car (or almost any entry luxury car) the G35 seems unbelievably unstable, losing contact with the road on every bump, and prone to violent oversteer (esp in the rain) and the traction control is next to useless. IMO theres nothing more important than stability esp with a car that has 306hp and sportscar-like abilities.
Editor: were you refering to this when calling the G35 dangerous or something else?
