I went tree shopping this weekend in the Altima. I figured I would just tie the tree to the top to avoid vacuuming out pine needles later. But the young man who was working the tree farm at OSH recommended I put the tree in the trunk.
Despite the rather narrow opening of the Altima's trunk, the tree slipped in fine...
Even though the lid was ajar by about six inches, the view from the rear camera was unobstructed.
My beautiful noble fir arrived home safely and was easy to get back out of the trunk without losing too many needles.

I'm reminded of the commercial with the guy driving in a spirited fashion after tying his new tree to the roof. He arrives home with a trunk and some twigs.
How tall is your tree?

She said 5-6 feet.
Are you asking for the specifics or did you miss that ?

D'oh. I just missed it.

My tree is 3 feet, fits in what looks like a small coffin, and I was able to safely transport it from my closet to the living room without the need of an Altima.

the key to open the split folding seats sounds a bit annoying. but there are many a time when i accidentally opened the trunk, so sometimes you appreciate that it blocks out the rest of your car (but i think more often than not, you'd rather have a non-key system for convenience)

Tie a tree to the roof of a brand new car? Only a woman...
