2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS 4WD - It's been a while

2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS 4WD CD Player

This weekend I was given the Mitsubishi Outlander to drive. I know I've driven this car before, but I could not remember it. The interior didn't look or feel familiar at all. The last time I blogged about it was May so it's been a long time since I've driven it...

I'm not implying that it is forgettable. It's actually kind of quirky and pleasant. Driving it feels sturdy and tight. Tight steering, tight suspension, handles bumps. And it has some memorably oddball features. Paddles shifters that look like Dumbo ears. Hidden seat heaters on inside of the seats. Double glove box that opens like a clam shell.

In true holiday style, I've loaded my iPod with Christmas tunes. Doh! I can't play them in the Outlander. No AUX. Well, there is sort of a backwards way of hacking it if you read this previous post. But who wants to do that? The Outlander has a hard drive for music instead. If I owned this car, I'd load up the hard drive and not think anything of it, I guess. But is seems inconvenient, like an iPod that you can't take with you.

Fortunately, I had a CD with me but was surprised to find that the Outlander only has a single disc player. It's interesting how quickly modern entertainment systems can get out of date.

Donna FYI:

"No AUX."
There is an AUX connector in the back of the floor console (facing the rear seats). Not well placed, but IT IS there

"... was surprised to find that the Outlander only has a single disc player."

The 6-CD changer is standard on the base XLS. YOUR car has the Rokford Fosgate sound sytem which is a single CD.

At least the AUX port isn't on the dash where it's "ugly" and cords get in the way....at least according to some people here.

Who uses CDs anymore? You have Sirius radio, AM/FM, and i-Pods. Plus it's SOO inconvenient to flip down the screen every time you want to load in a disk.

And yes, I'm being sarcastic, for those of you who didn't pick that up.

Yeah i use the AUX jack in my 07 outlander. It is located down on the center console in the second row. I actually like it there because i run the RCA chords up the side into the center front cup holders. No mess and it sounds great on the Rockford system

I'll file this complaint under the Aura style complaints. 'much ado about nothing'

then again, maybe cars are getting so good, that we now complain about things like cd players, ipod adaptors, and aux input. everything else thats really 'car' is becoming secondary.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. Do you mean CDs are out of date now that car systems have hard drive and iPod jacks like the Outlander, or do you mean the Outtie's system is outdated because it "only" holds one CD? If it's the latter, the I'll just say give me the hard drive any day over a six CD changer. I have about 1300-1400 songs on mine, and that keeps me and my family happily on the longest of rides.

It's the jack that allows Mitsubishi techs to steal all of your songs off the HDD, Mr. Smarty Pants.
