2007 Infiniti G35 Sport: 1-2-3 Go!

Well, the Camry V6 in the longterm garage is also faster than the 308 from 0-60...doesn't make it more fun to drive, though :P

I think it's your driving, too - your attentiveness/enthusiasm for using the car's power. I ate many a G35 for lunch in my '99 Si. Clearly out-gunned, I used some quick reflexes and quick feet to make up for it and leave them snoozing. Despite their obvious annoyance and desire to teach me a lesson, all the torque in the world couldn't catch me. However, once in a while, one of 'em would get wise to my plan while the light was still red, and shortly thereafter, slam the door in the faces of my 160 ponies and my 111 foot-pounds.

Is it me or is the "Solara" badging on the car in front of you out of place?

SubyTrojan, I know, doesn't it sound that way? But that car is actually sold now. These days, I'm about as far from a boy racer as you can get. My most recent posts are actually about not needing the kind of power that can only get you in trouble ;-)
 
Even the latest Caddy CTS commercials on TV are about winning the Stop Light Grand Prix. I guess it's something we all do once in a while. Drive safe!

Yes, the Solara badge is ridiculously out of place. Can't imagine why an owner would uglify their car like that.

Improperly positioned badging like that is usually your first indication that the car's had paint/body work done at a crappy shop.

I just cant make myself like this car for some reason and Im not really sure why. Its just not desirable to me. I know it offers great overall performance but it just seems like something is missing. Id easily take a 335i 6MT, CTS DI, Acura TL-S 6MT over the G.

And people wonder why commuter mileage is so low. ;-)

the 99 Si really isn't a Si.. and i say that as an owner of a FG2. sorry EP3 owners, but it just lacks the nature of a Si.

dragonzsoul, the 99 Si is NOT an EP3...spend a little more time learning about Civics.
 
And yes, the EP3 does suck, but that's completely besides the point of this topic.

i'm all that low end torque those civic generate just rips the ground up and lets those babies fly.

FG2, EP3? Not familiar with these terms. Yeah, those G35 drivers were sleeping, like I said; I made fun of the 111 lb-ft myself, but who said anything about being in the "low end"?

Like... I... said, those V6 drivers were pulling away from those lights in a very relaxed manner. There was no real "racing" to speak of when getting up to 40 on a 35 mph road. But the Si is loud, so it was typical for people to look at me like I was being a menace, and then get annoyed - too late - and try to make an issue of it.
 
Did you bother to look at the 0-30 and 0-40 speeds? Same. I'm not good enough to shave seven tenths of a second, and neither is your typical G35x automatic buyer. Not impressed. But I spent seven years trying to explain the fun and prowess of the '99 Si, and those days have passed.

The thing about the Si is that it always feels like you're racing even when no one else is due to the fact that it has no torque and you have to rev the crap out of it to go anywhere. Thus, more often than not, you just end up looking like an ass trying to race everyone when in actuality you're just trying to keep up with traffic.

It is a relatively fast car, chrishs2000, so my own wording wouldn't be "trying to keep up", but yes, you've got it absolutely right. That was one of many drawbacks that balance out its benefits, and because of that I wouldn't buy another Si. I'm not into any of the hot rod versions of everyday cars any more, really. I don't think I'd spring for a G35 either, though.

chrishs2000: my bad, haha i have no idea what i was thinking. you're right, it's not. the EM1 was awesome IMO.
 
so the Si mentioned in the blog is an 06? haha we should figure that out first! if we haven't already, i'm kinda tired so i haven't really paid as much attention as i could've.

Yup, the Si Caroline mentioned is (mine) and an '06.
 
Rev the crap out of it? Nuh-uh! Not my girl. Just thinking about the accelerator, she takes off.
