2008 Buick Enclave: Hauling Nuts

As Nut Mom for Girl Scout Brownie Troop 421, I was tasked with picking up the entire troop's fall fundraiser order from the local Long Beach, Calif. warehouse.

Usually minivans are my first choice for transporting cases of Girl Scout goodies, but since our trusty Kia Sedona left the long-term fleet in July we've been minivan-free, so this time I turned to our new 2008 Buick Enclave instead.

With just the third-row seats folded down, the Enclave had no problem swallowing 588 cans of nuts shrink-wrapped into 49 cases.  And best of all, the cargo floor height was perfect for my 5'7" nutty self to load all of the cases into the Enclave during my assigned 8:36-8:40 a.m...

(four minutes?!) pick-up window.

The Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach sure runs a tight ship.

Lol 4 minutes to load all that? Thats crazy, why is it so short.

About being minivan free, are there any plans to get a Grand Caravan as a long term car? I'd like to see that.

I'm expecting the long-term Grand Caravan will join our fleet in time for February cookie sales.

Just glad you didn't have to slam on the brakes! Ow!

Well, one could argue since the Enclave and it's siblings are replacing GM's minivans, you could say that this is your minivan for the fleet.

Ive seen a few of these on the road, although they seemed to be the higher end model, but the styling is very attractive. How does it drive?

There is one that drives around my city. It's a brown CXL with the 19-inch rims, and it's look really nice from the outside.

That cloth is a bit funkalicious...

I was thinking the same thing. That really looks unsafe.

It would be interesting to see a post about the cloth seats. Usually you can't get cars in this class in cloth, so it would be interesting to see how it stacks up. Sure it looks a little funky, but how is it to sit in?

I think George Carlin said it best in one of his early routines: "Vans are great. If you want anything from the back, all you have to do is slam on the brakes and it hits you on the back of the head."

Having driven several of these, and shopped for a cloth seated CX model...to answer questions, it's GREAT. The stuff in the Acadia/Outlook is of the harder, shinier variety, but the second we tried out an Enclave CX, there was an immediate huge difference. It's smooth, soft, and the material just feels very high quality. And the seats themselves just felt that much nicer.

I know many people, anymore, MUST have leather (or really don't even consider a vehicle not equipped)...but the cloth, in this case, is very high quality and the overall effect looks and feels fabulous. Even better, it's great that the CX model is offered with essentially everything the higher CXL model is (nothing stripped), just essentially the different wheels and cloth vs. leather. Allows for the best buyer choice, especially when it comes to upholstery...and not having to just be stuck with one.
