2007 Nissan Altima 3.5SE: Too Much Sun On The Way To Laguna Seca

Nice try, but the sun visor extensions on our 2007 Nissan Altima are pretty lame.

On my way to Laguna Seca for the weekend, I found myself cursing the visor's inability to actually block the sun during the long, arrow-straight stretch of Highway 46 between the 5 and the 101. That gaping space between the extension and the window was where the sun sat on the driver's side for the entire hour (passenger side photo taken by passenger, for safety) . Give me true extending visors any day instead of these ones.

Turns out there aren't any clouds when you're right smack in the middle of the desert, either.

At least the event at Laguna Seca (Redline Time Attack) offered some shade...

I spent quite some time in the AMS Performance pit garage catching up with old friends.

Here's Paul Gerrard driving the AMS Time Attack Evo through the Corkscrew and into the Rainey curve. For those that have driven the track, this car turned a couple of laps in the low 1:31.x range during practice. Yowza.

It was nice seeing you at the track, Jay. That AMS Evo is FAST! It's too bad that there are county sound restrictions in place.

Did you see the new Lightning Red STI that showed up? I snapped some photos of it.

I have yet to see any visor-extenders that will block out the entire top half of a side window. Not sure that would be entirely safe from the standpoint of outward visibility, either. Ever consider that a tint might help?

That's a good exit velocity off the corkscrew. And WOW is an understatement on a 1:31.

That evo was loud I however am not a fan of the sound. seems to much like my nitro power go cart.

However that car was flyyying.

Its nice to see the race tracks I ran in grantursiom for what amounts to tens of hours, if not in the hundreds in real life video

wow, it is fast.....

but back to the altima...Jason, can you direct me to a car that has better visor extenders?

The better visor extender is not an extender at all--it is a sliding visor. Those in our Long-Term Saturn Aura are a great example. The whole visor slides aft, blocking much more of the "dead zone" gap shown in the photo above.

now that you mention it, i guess i have seen those before. yes, those do seem better

oh well, i guess that's why i had my windows tinted

So that's one thing they haven't improved since inception. I had a 2002 Altima and was forever being blinded by the sun, particularly in the gap between the A pillar and the visor.

You all just need to move up here to the Great White North. Trust me - "too much sun" is not a statement we can even comprehend.
