To me, trucks are purpose built vehicles. They're for work, sometimes play, and have emphasis on durability, practicality and versatility. Trucks aren't supposed to have airs of luxury and fashion in my opinion.
The Silverado has a plain but very functional interior. A lot of plastic abounds but it gets the job done. To me, that's very truck-like: purpose built and practical.
The Tundra, however, tries to look fancy with piano black plastic on the center stack among other questionable interior design choices (i.e.: the tubular instrument panel)
Personally, after driving the Silverado around for a while, I really find the shiny black center stack in the Toyota really annoying. Gimme simple, gimme rugged. I want my truck to be a truck.

That Tundra interior is horrible. Three different colors, the shiny black panel in the center, and the tiny, buried gauges just don't look good at all. The Silverado has a simple and functional truck panel, but it still looks good. True to Character is the exactly right way to say it. The Tundra just looks gimmicky.

Plus, the Silverado has a fancy interior as a choice if you want it.
Silverado>Tundra

Im kinda on the fence on this one. I like the Tundra interior with the exception of the silver trim and gauge cluster. The rest is ok as its smooth and simple. Reduce the silver plastic, give it a traditional gauge cluster and it would be much better. Im not a fan of the piano black finish as it looks to delicate for a truck. Also bring back that high quality feel of the previous Tundra. That truck gave off a certain.....level of quality that the new Tundra has less of.
I like the Silverado interior also but I dont like how its divided into 2 big pieces as it makes it looks "pieced" together. I hate the green lighitng also as it looks old. I do like the clean gauge cluster and the radio controls as it look pretty clean. But what is it with GM HVAC controls? As I said in the Malibu blog, the buttons for the vent settings are way to small for the amount of real estate they have to cover.

In this case I like the Tundra's interior better because it is more interesting to look at (the Silverado's is borrrrrrrrrrring). However, give me the Silverado's other interior and i'll take it any day over the tundra interior (and, while you're at it, throw in the Tundra's awesome V8).

I second that, Scott, although the Tundra's interior does look better in gray or black...mainly because those match better with the other plastics in the interior.

Tundra interior looks terrible and the plastics are rock hard based on my inspection at the auto show. They tried to do way too much and were not successful.

I want to meet the people who determine what they think is stylish. You know, the ones who determined that women's sunglasses should be bigger than their entire face and thinks that looks good - say what?? Makes them look like insects with bug eyes.
Then there was the cheap silver plastic trying to fake it as aluminum trim, when it just looked like cheap plastic painted silver. Now they're trying to replace that with shiney black plastic, and trying to disguise the cheapness by calling it "piano" black, like that's supposed to make it upscale or something. They should call it what it is: cheap shiney black plastic. Who are they trying to kid?

I don't relective surfaces located where they can reflect sunlight into my eyes while driving. That goes for the piano "blech" trim on the Tundra and the faux chrome brightwork in the Chevy.
