2007 Audi Q7: MMI Malfunction

News Editor Kelly Toepke and I were listening to the radio in the Q7 the other day when the speakers went silent.

First we thought the SIRIUS connection was to blame. We switched the band to FM, then to AM. We popped in a CD too, but no luck. The symptoms were unchanged: 17 seconds of music, 4 seconds of silence...

This repeated our entire (100-mile) trip, forcing us to what we'd avoided all along, conversation.

The radio malfunction continued until this morning, when it stopped completely. A couple of hours later it was back again. We've left a message with our local dealer to schedule a service appointment.

It seems as if Audis electrogremlins have struck again. Just about every Audi owner I know (my mother being a former owner) has had minor or major electrical issues.

hondacura4, you could not be more right. I have owned two Audi's and never had as much trouble with any other car as I had with those two. The worst part was, they were all stupid electronic problems that should never have happened but were debilitating. I should be used to electrical problems, I have owned 1980's and 1990's Porsches, but those Audis still baffled me with their plethora of problems.

You have Sirius, why arent you listening to Elvis radio. LOL. I had this same problem with my Nav on my Grand Cherokee. It just went away.
