2007 Toyota Tundra SR5: Haulin' the Family Furniture

No that is not a coffin in the bed of our long term 2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab. Although after I hauled this big, heavy piece of furniture 150 miles I did want to kill myself. Those suicidal tendencies are no reflection of the Tundra. The big truck hauled Lead Senior Editor Ed Hellwig and myself out to the oasis that is La Quinta, California and back without a moments discomfort...

It also swallowed the armoire's heft without complaint. Although we did have to make the return trip with the tailgate down as you can see.

The issue is mine. I had to load it in and out of the truck. I also had to carry it into my house. Ed helped, but not nearly enough. Anyway, I think it was worth it. I was able to test out the Tundra's hauling ability and I've got a new home for my television. Looks nice in my living room, don't you think?

Looks like you have a pint-sized shopping cart thief living with you, too!

My father just bought a Tundra double cab with the 5.7L and couldn't be happier. The only improvements that I would make is to offer a "real" mechanical limited slip diff instead of the EDL and to make the bed-mounted 115VAC Power Port at least an option like it is in the Tacoma. Regardless, he can't get over how much of a change it is from his '96 F250!
