2005 Ford GT: How much faster is it?

We should be getting the GT tested in the next week to confirm the benefits of our recent engine mods (new supercharger pulley, reflashed ECU, short shifter). I'm going to guess-timate about three-tenths of a second gain in performance, meaning it should now be hitting zero-to-60 in approximately 3.4 seconds and the 1/4-mile in about 11.4.

Even without the official numbers I can confirm the GT feels much stronger under normal driving conditions. As much torque as the 5.4-liter V8 had before, it's got more now...

Sixth gear, for instance, previously felt somewhat lackadaisical at speeds below 80. Now you can be going 60 in sixth gear, roll into the throttle, and quickly pass another vehicle -- no downshift required.

Hopefully traction won't be too much of a problem when it's go time at the track.

You'd give me a run for my money. I can clock a 12.1 with slicks. Then again, I don't have to stop every 100 miles for gas. ;-)

So...when will go time at the track be? :o)

I mentioned to Pamela that it would be cool to have an Edmunds' track day. She said there's no way insurance would allow for that. I would think we could drive at our own risk though. :o)

We could rent the Streets of Willow Springs for a day and let employees have at it with their personal vehicles.

I see a twin turbo conversion in the GT's future!

Any word yet on when you get to drive the crazy Corvette coming?

That Corvette does sound crazy. I GM really manages 650-700 and manages to keep the weight at 3,500 or below (the current Z06 weighs about 3250) it will be FAST!

I'm still not a 'Vette man (except for the '63-'67 models), but this thing could/should stomp even the most exotic (and expensive) of supercars.

I think it's a 2009, so we should be driving in the next 12 months or less.

But the bigger question remains: Will the next 'Vette be mid-engine? I find it hard to believe...but the remors persist...

Anything new on the GT? I still haven't heard any official stats yet.

Yeah, we keep having full test days (we're doing so many great comparison tests for our readers) so a slot hasn't opened up to teest the GT yet. Hopefully in the next week or two.

Sorry for the delay.
