2007 Nissan Versa: 7,500 Mile Service

Last week, our little Versa finally made it to Santa Monica Nissan for a slightly belated 7,500 mile service appointment. (Hey, sometimes even the pros fall behind!) Included in the service was an oil change and a tire rotation. They also inspected the exhaust, steering, clutch, fluids, and brakes.

Cleared and headed back home with a clean bill of health in just a few hours, the visit cost us $89.95.

Was this the "premium" service?

sounds expensive. I would take a oil & filter & rotation at $50.

But maybe California is on a different scale, with your median home price being $547,000 over there. In that case, wow, only $89.95! That's a bargain! I would have expected $149.95! Tell your friends!

3,000 miles over?!?!?!?!

Your next service is due in 1,143 miles, so says the manual.

Like it really needs to be serviced every 3,750 miles...
Toyotas do 5,000 miles, domestic intervals are even longer.
And Toyotas only do 5,000-oil&filter, 10,000-oil&filter, 15,000-oil&filter&rotation&misc.
So Toyotas only get one expensive service per 15,000 miles.

Fear the wrath of Nissan warranty voiding.

i just looked at the manual for my wife's versa yesterday. you can get the oil changed every 7500 miles for highway driving or every 3750 miles for more city driving or harsh environments.

we are gonna split the difference, more or less, and go every 5000 miles.

but if our dealership charges as much as the one you visited, we'll be going to an independent shop...

Wow - save $90, change your own oil and look at your own brakes. Good grief!
