Our long-term SRX is back not only from itâs conquering of Oregon, but also from a trip to Martin Cadillac in Los Angeles. First and foremost was an oil-change, full synthetic as with our previous changes. We also needed them to look at issues surrounding our key-fob and sunroof. Both issues have been documented throughout this blog...
Total cost to us: $89.45 for the synthetic oil change and inspection.

Well, you're 1 1/2 for two on service appointments today. Glad both repairs were made without a problem, but $90 seems quite steep even for synthetic oil. I like the $20 for a full service on the jeep a lot better. This makes BMW's ultimate service look awfully nice doesn't it?

Much of the price of the service is probably "billed" through the synthetic oil price.

Hey Stov - you may save on oil, but you already "paid' for your "ultimate" service with your monthly lease/ownership bill buddy.

Well it depends on what value you put towards driving dynamics and the like. Yes you pay more, but how much of the extra money goes to the cost of the ultimate service, and how much goes to everything else that makes it a better car. Since both Cadillac and BMW are luxury brands, we can assume that a similar service would be similar to or even greater in cost for the BMW. That money can add up after a while. It might be interesting to do the math on that.

I'm not sure how many miles Edmunds got on this last oil change, but if the oil life monitor works like my '02 Corvette does, it was probably around 8,500 miles. $90 in maintenance cost for 8,500 miles is pretty damned good, especially for a luxury car.
