The Phantom of the Audi Q7

2007 Audi Q7

I was driving home last night in the Audi Q7 and the air conditioner was starting to get cold. So as I neared the beach I turned the sunroof dial in the Q7 and opened the top. It slides open part way but if you turn it again, the glass will slide all the way open. The shade/screen stayed closed and I thought, great, I get the benefits of the fading golden sunlight, the fresh sea air, without the worry of seagull droppings (I wasn't sure if I should use the word "poop")...

As I got up to speed, I started to hear howling and whistling. Actually, it only takes a little bit of acceleration to start the wailing. At first I thought something was wrong with the car but quickly realized it was the open roof. I remembered that Karl posted something similar about the Q7. He had the top fully open and the pop-up windscreen in place. I had the entire flat screen closed.

I find the Q7 a very strange vehicle. Weird things always happen to me in it. This next bit is unrelated to the haunted house sound effects but still strange. I was waiting to make a left turn and when I finally got my chance to go, I lifted my foot off the brake and the car lurched forward about three feet with a whooshing sound. I thought for a second that someone had bumped into the back of me. But when I looked in the mirror, the car behind me was waiting patiently for me to move. Did the Q7 feel my annoyance and decide to mess with me?

I think the Q7 may be haunted. Or perhaps it just has too many bells and whistles for my taste.

Unintended acceleration in an Audi? Uh oh...

I think Audis & VWs just make random noises. We had a Bug that never shut up with beeps, bongs, and other odd, unintended noises.

It's to complicated for itself. I wonder if this is car will be a used car nightmare a few years from now.
