Chevy Silverado LT: Easy to Drive

For all you of you cave-dwellers out there, the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado LT is not a small car. Specs: 18 feet long, more than 6 feet tall, nearly 7 feet wide. Roughly 5,300 pounds. And that's the SHORT bed. Ours has a 6.0-liter V8, which provides it with a tow rating of 10,500 pounds...

These are not features I require in my daily duties as a copy editor. I vastly prefer a midsize sport sedan, particularly as a lead-footed city-dweller with a Lilliputian garage. But the Silverado is incredibly easy to drive. I have spent the last few nights in it, running all over the greater Los Angeles basin on both city streets and highways, and found it very smooth to maneuver, powerful enough to get around, and actually very easy to park. It doesn't have any more controls or bells and whistles than you need, the enormous windows and mirrors do a fantastic job of providing great visibility, and it's very easy to tell exactly where the front and the back are. It's completely truck-like but also very driver-friendly.

Your point on the enormous windows needs more emphasis. Unlike cars, trucks haven't succombed to the disease of ever climbing beltlines and you can actually see out of them.

Not SUVs. Check out the horrible visibility options from a bunch of mfgs, Toyota's FJ Cruiser being the worst for me.

LT is a good choice when I go car shopping. I like to go one level up base if possible because you get ripped off so much on interior quality and performance with a base model vechicle

Though I notice that you have a similar problem that I have with my Silverado-- fitting into parking spots. You're slightly in the red, something that I end up doing more often than I'd like.
