2007 Chevy Tahoe: Hernia and Go

A family road trip to Big Bear Lake 115 miles northeast of Los Angeles seemed to be the perfect opportunity to try out our Chevy Tahoe. Regular readers of this blog know I usually commandeer the Audi Q7 for such duties, and the Mercedes R500 before that.

But the Tahoe deserved a shot, so this Saturday I packed it up and it swallowed luggage, wife, kids and dog like the full-size SUV that it is. Of course I had to utilize Chevy's innovative Hernia N' Go third-row-seat system first...

Unlike the Audi, the Mercedes, or even Ford's Expedition, the Tahoe's third-row seat does not fold flat. Instead, the not-light seats must be removed and hauled away. I stored them in my garage.

When the trip is over, I'm seriously considering hiring day laborers for the seats' reinstallation.

mrjones944, I bet your parent(s) never taught you, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it."

I think it's a worthy comment. I get tired of people complaining of not having every possible labour saving convience too.

Maybe the editors could spend more time at the gym and less at the computer.

I'm 44 and have no trouble lifting the seat in and out of a Caravan.

what's with all the chevy apologists?

GM seems to have really missed the boat on this one. lucky for them the Tahoe is a good looking truck, and Ford totally uglied up the Expedition with the last "freshening"

Scott is right. These seats weigh somewhere around 60 pounds each, as I revealed in this post. It also helps to have a dolly or skateboard handy, as well.
