I know the old adage says you get what you pay for. But whatever we saved by going for a car priced at $21,925 MSRP weve certainly spent at the pump. Back in November I reported that the Jeep Compass Limited was getting an average of 15 mpg highway driving and things havent improved markedly since then.
A few days of serious track test driving got us closer to 20 mpg, but I cant imagine that the 26 mpg highway advertised on the Jeep website is even a remote possibility.

Oh boy...i thought you guys fancy yourselves to be a professional organization specializing in cars.
There's obviously a problem with the mileage you are getting. Everybody on compass forums is getting at least 23/24 mpg in mixed driving. My guess is you are overcompensating for the CVT acceleration problem (Tech. Service Bulletin # 18-031-07). Go to your dealer (that's the place with the neon sign and the many cars parked in front ) and complain. Most likely a reprogram will fix your problem.
You are welcome.

Yeah, there's something seriously wrong with that fuel mileage. I get 15 MPG average in my '99 Suburban 4x4 diesel, and 22 MPG highway, and that thing is nearly 7,000 lbs.

Consumer Reports rated the Jeep Compass @ 22MPG in Mixed Use (Highway / City) in their Real World Tests.
They also rated it as the 4th Best Small SUV in the Gas Mileage Category. The 3 Small SUV's that got better mileage were hybrids.
Something is wrong with your Compass - you may want to have it checked out...
