Ford Edge: Carpeting makes a break for freedom

As I was getting into the Ford Edge this morning, a flash of black plastic in the passenger-side footwell caught my eye. I took a closer look and realized that the carpeting in that area of Edge's cabin has started to liberate itself from its attachments, revealing the dark plastic beneath.

I tried to stick it back into place but my efforts weren't that successful. We've had the Edge for a mere four months, and it has just under 8,000 miles on its odometer...
Maybe the carpeting is unhappy with its life in the capable but sedate Edge, and is hoping to break free and find a home in another, more exciting Ford product.
