2007 Hyundai Azera: 85-percent approval rating

2007 Hyundai Azera -- Brent Romans

We've been blogging about our long-term 2007 Hyundai Azera for about four months now. Overall, it has been garnering considerable praise. (Using a bit of office downtime, I tallied the car's critical blog posts. I counted 18 positive, 3 negative...

Our Ford Edge has to be jealous.)

If Hyundai would tidy up the suspension tuning, get the transmission to downshift a little more quickly and add an auxiliary audio input jack, the Azera would really be a no-complaints car.

The Azera is just further proof of what an already huge industrial giant can do when it really focuses its attention and resources to a particular market. No one who had the (dis)pleasure to experience the subpar Excel in the 80's would have ever dreamed that the same company would be capable of producing a car like the Azera, let alone a V8-powered, RWD luxury sedan.

Hyundai is on the same development and market % curve that Honda & Toyota followed a couple decades earlier, but at a much more accelerated pace. I think it's safe to say that the days of this brand being used as a bad pun are at an end...
