Toyota FJ Cruiser Brings Home a New Family Addition

I had a feeling the bike shop was going to call this weekend to tell me that my brand-new Electra Amsterdam had arrived so I borrowed the FJ Cruiser. When I went to pick it up, I thought for sure the bike would slot in nicely back there with the seats folded down and 66.8 cubic feet of cargo room. But instead there was a minor struggle as the bike was bigger than I thought.

The salesman loading it up was trying to be careful not to scratch the shiny red aluminum as he pushed it in but the handle got caught coming in...
When he ever so gently unhooked the leather-covered handle from the cargo opening and pushed the bike in further, its rear wheel butted up against the folded-down rear seats preventing the bike from fitting in all the way. Finally I had to go in through the front doors to lift the rear wheel up over the folded seats. Hmm, this bike may be too fancy to transport in this way. Either that or I need to get over babying it. Anyway, the bike finally got in there and I brought it to its new loving home.

BTW, the XM radio sound that was blogged about earlier really is awful. It sounds just like an old AM radio. I tried adjusting the sound levels as someone had suggested but that didn't work. The sound levels aren't separated for each audio mode but apply to all. The stereo sound in the FJ is horrible in general but it's extra tinny in the XM mode making it really unappealing. I'd rather listen to FM radio and its commercials than horrible audio on commercial-free satellite radio.

I know you thought of this but why didn't you just take the wheels off?

Off the bike not the FJ.

Thanks for the mental image of the FJ up on blocks with a bicycle in the back as a "spare" luke4wf!

Actually the bike salesman said he would have but the front wheel, of the bike not the FJ, is hard to take off.
