The GT's flip-up fuel cap is pretty cool in that it doesn't require an inner cap, meaning full-ups are one-step quicker. But I just realized that the fill tube is pretty finicky about the angle of the fuel nozzle. If you have it at a right angle (perpendicular) to the car you're fine. But if it rotates either direction more than a few degrees it triggers the fuel pressure cut-off...

$3.50!?! I knew PA was getting gouged. Premium is $3.00 here. The price difference between us and California used to be much greater. I was in Alaska in Jan. '06 and again this past Feb. First time gas was 10 cents more in Alaska, now its about a quarter cheaper! Or maybe it's the opposite and everyone else is getting gouged less...

Ah yes, a car with "character". Reminds me of my old Alfa where I had to hold the pump nozzle upside down in the filler neck to keep the shutoff from tripping.

Uh, no offense intended. But if you can afford *this kind of car*, that cost to fill it up oughtta be something that doesn't even phase you. It costs me more than that to fill up my Avalanche on an average week at <$3 / gallon and I don't have issues. And I guarantee I paid (and still do, when insurance and / or financing comes into the picture) way less for it than anyone pays for a GT. :D

To add to Jerry's comment, the GT isn't likely to be someone's commuter beater so theoretically fillups could fall under the 'entertainment' category of the household budget and treated accordingly.

I'm averaging just over one fill up a month in the GT, so yes, it's not a regular financial pain (just a memorable one when it does occur).

Okay - $51 for a fillup on a Ford GT?! Come on - stop whining! Up here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada it costs me the equivalent of $48 US to fill my Civic Si, at today's exchange rate.
If I were paying only $3.50 US per "gallon" that I used (we use litres), it would cost me only $42 US instead of the $48.
