2007 Nissan Versa: It's not without personality

2007 Nissan Versa SL - Erin Riches

I took our long-term Nissan Versa shopping this weekend, and it quickly showed its worth, easily cramming itself into a non-standard-size compact parking space. Beyond that advantage, the Versa is starting to grow on me in a way I hadn't expected. My relationship with the car has an adversarial element... I find myself wanting to drive it in anger...

And it turns out the car does like to be driven this way. Push through all that body roll and it bears down into the turn. There's something to this chassis, but it's masked by the U.S.-spec model's soft state of tune and whiny tires.

Which is why I'm hoping Nissan will eventually do something more with the Versa. Something like this Renaultsport Clio 197 I hastily snapped a photo of at the Geneva Auto Show.
