I ran out on Saturday evening to pick up a couple of things needed for dinner and my $10 trip to the local grocery resulted in a few hundred bucks of body damage.
As I walked out of the store, I saw a white Ford Escape driving the wrong way down the aisle where I'd parked the Kia Sedona. Just beyond the Sedona, the Escape cranked a hard right turn, attempting to pull into a parking space that was angled the opposite way. Part way into the spot, the driver decided he couldn't make the turn, backed out, and took off...
It wasn't until I got to the Sedona that I realized the Escape had hit it, scraping and denting the sliding door.
Whadda jerk.

Whoa that sucks.
It'd be nice if that driver goes to jail for the hit and run.

That's probably why he backed up and left - cuz he realized he hit the 'dona! People nowadays...
billt9 - I was involved in a hit and run some years ago. The cops didn't even care or go after the guy because there were no injuries or significant damage. It sucked but I guess they had bigger fish to fry. :-(
Did they ever catch the guy that caused the Commander crash?

Nope, they think the guy managed to get on a nearby freeway entrance, never to be seen again.

Did the store have a security tape with the guy's (or gal's) plates?

That sucks, Kelly. I hope your foot and your husband's ankle have healed!

The Explorer that caused the Commander accident had a temporary tag, so no license plate available. The police pulled surveilance tapes from a couple of local stores, but they didn't show anything of use.
Ultimately, after a four-month investigation, our insurance company is covering all costs because we had uninsured motorist coverage which will cover a hit-and-run as long as there's evidence of car-to-car contact.

I HATE BASTARDS THAT DO THAT SH*T! I have 4 door dings and a huge scratch in my 06 Civic from hit and runs, and it hasn't even been a year! And yeah, when I reported my hit and run accident (a guy ran a red light and hit my rear bumper as he took off), the police service was the ABSOLUTE worse! Thumbs down for Santa Ana PD!

I feel your pain. It never ceases to amaze me how many idiots I witness -- on a DAILY basis -- blatantly running red lights here in L.A. and never getting caught. It's epidemic.
I nearly got T-boned while in our L.T. Solstice by some dimwit (she was like the fourth car -- after a big gap -- to blow the red) while attempting to move away from my green light. I've been out here seven years and have yet to see one of them get nailed.
Where are the cops? I think they should try camping out incogneto at intersections so they can reverse this "trend". They'll more than make their ticket quotas and make it a lot safer for those of us who know the difference between green and red.
