At 5'4", I have a difficult time getting in and out of full-size SUVs. Thankfully, the Tahoe has running boards as part of its standard equipment package to give me a boost.
Yay, Tahoe.
Once I'm secured in my seat, the high seating position lets me see over the miles of stand-still traffic ahead of me...

This post proves that a big SUV makes you feel at least 3 inches longer...hm-hm.... I mean taller.

Yesterday I was laughing as a guy in one of those odd looking BMW roadsters cut me off then changed lanes again only to be stuck in a lane that had an accident blocking that lane up ahead. I could see over the other vehicles so I knew to stay in the correct lane. Poor guy.

yeah, that's bloody wonderful - drive an enormous SUV so you can see over the other cars. the rest of us driving those other cars can't see up the road because of lane-blocking monster trucks like your tahoe.
i hope you get stuck in traffic behind a Ford Excursion or Hummer H1.

Amen, kevlang. I too hate getting stuck behind Tahoe/Suburban sized SUVs, especially since they all have tinted windows and tend to go slower than the flow of traffic. It's always nice when people enjoy a power trip at the expense of others, but I guess if they didn't it wouldn't a power trip, wouldn't it?
To full-size SUVers, I say that if you must drive what is essentially a pickup truck with a permanent camper and a carpeted bed, then at least jack it up 3 feet so I can see under you! That way, you can have your power trip and I can make sure I have enough room to pass you.

Haha. You sound scornful of people with bigger vehicles. Too bad for you.

Back to the running boards.. How is getting out of the Tahoe? Ive always found that the boards dont stick out enough as they are tucked into the body work too much. Whenever I'm in a tahoe/escalade (last gen at least) I have to slide down the side of the truck to get out and pick up whatever dirt happens to be on those boards.

And "priuscrusher" doesn't sound scornful of people with smaller vehicles? Give me a break.

The best thing about full-size SUVs is that they have all that space for those thank-you notes from OPEC. :-D

the best thing is that you have the illusion that you have a Sport Utility life when you are just a cough potato and Chevy Suburban is the only truck that can handle your weight.

I'm just gonna borrow my brother's Unimog U500 and drive in front of Pcrusher's Santa Fe and see how he likes his high viewpoint...
Seriously, that thing is crazy tall, can't wait to take it off road...

Yo! Wait up a sec!
Wha tabout the people who need a full-size SUV?
For instance, my family just recently bought a Ford Expedition EL. Why did we buy this instead of another car? Well, I'm one of a family of four, yet sometimes we have to also carry my grandparents to eat at a resturant on some weekends. We also have a trailer that weighs more than 3000 pounds (unloadded).
What other vehicle can meet these needs?
Think before you dis another man's truck, allright?
