2007 Chevrolet Silverado: Braking news

The light was green. Traffic was flowing at a brisk clip. Then the car ahead of me came to a sudden, grinding halt. Turns out someone a few cars ahead had stopped, hoping to make a left turn from the center lane...
People here often get creative with their interpretation of the rules of the road.

I stomped on the brakes, and... the Silverado stopped on the proverbial dime. No drama, zero fuss.

The last large-sized vehicle I'd driven on our long-term fleet was the Ford Edge. Its brake pedal had a mushy feel and the SUV tended to take its own sweet time responding when the pedal was mashed.  And there was that sound and feeling that you sometimes get when stopping large vehicles -- that scary creak and shudder from the rear that makes it seem like the back end is stopping two hours after the front.

The Silverado is much larger than the Edge, but it's free of that sort of uncertainty. Pedal feel is sure, and the truck stops pretty much instantly and all at once. Linear brake response is a very good thing.
