As soon as the Silverado left the body shop, it was driven straight to S&J Chevrolet for service.
With over 10,000 miles on the odometer, it was overdue and the 0% oil life indicator had been lit for weeks.
This is the second truck we've had serviced at S&J Chevrolet in Cerritos, California and we've been pleased with them overall. The waiting area could use a little sprucing up but otherwise everything went well...
Total cost - $66.46
A simple tire rotation and oil change was on the menu and our service advisor Rick never tried to upsell us with a bogus dealer recommended service. We were in and out in less than two hours. We'd return to this dealership in the future.

The oil life indicator has been at 0 percent for weeks? I pity that trucks engine, any reason why this truck has been treated like that?

Oh come on now you know how well they take care of their fleet cars. At least they havent thrown this one into a tree while trying to avoid an angry rabbit....yet

Are you going to post before and after pictures of the reconstructive surgery? Also, the price of repairs?

I'm just wondering why you guys have gone all the way to Cerritos twice in a row. That's not exactly "close" to Santa Monica. I sure hope that you're making that drive during the day, too, because the logic will crumble further if it's done in traffic.

We've never been to this Chevy dealer before so we wanted to try it. It's no use going to the same places where they know about Edmunds.com and then give us extra attention that's not indicative of how the typical customer is treated. Also, some of us live near Cerritos.
The truck has 10,500 miles on it. If that's its first oil change, it isn't the end of the world. It would have been better to do it right when the oil life indicator went down to 0% but the extra 2,500 (or so) miles certainly isn't going to ruin the truck. Besides, I doubt that the average car or truck owner is as perfect and religious about their oil changes as everyone here seems to be.

$66 for an oil change and tire rotation? Maybe its just what you pay in CA, but that seems way high. Unless you were getting full synthetic oil put in, which would probably be a good idea if you were the permanent owner of this truck and planned on going 10,000 miles between oil changes every time.

You hit the nail right on the head brian. It always makes me chuckle the way Internet people always seem to be completely without fault and perfect at everything they do. I personally appreciate the fact that Edmunds *doesnt* do everything to a "T" the way the manufacturers recommend. It is this fact that makes real world testing JUST that, so I feel like it could really be me behind the wheel getting an idea of how the vehicle will hold up to anywhere from from perfect care to nominal, but not extreme abuse. The human factor in these reviews is what makes a review useful to me.
