We've been driving the Sedona for about nine months now and we already have over 21,000 miles on it. This morning I was reviewing the fuel log to see what kind of numbers we are earning.
On the average over the life of the vehicle we have been getting 17.7 miles per gallon. Our best-ever tank was 29.3 mpg, our worst was 12.3 mpg.
We're running a little below par as Kia's advertised numbers are 18 city and 25 highway...
Those numbers really aren't that bad for a vehicle that weighs 4,387 pounds. And with gas prices well over $3 in L.A. right now, the Kia Sedona thankfully runs on regular unleaded.

The fuel mileage you all are observing might be due to the fact that she can "fly" as Warren so eloquently stated in one of the Sedona's previous entries when he was complimenting its power. I'm sure Josh took it for a flight or few as well!

My wife said she would be happy with a Sedona. But only if we got it in blue.

I'm not sure that calling fuel economy "Kia's numbers" given that they're reported by the EPA. It's a subtle difference, but it means the world to automakers.

"... for a vehicle that weighs 4,387 pounds!" And therein lies the problem. Kia built this this up like a tank to achieve perfect crash ratings using iron instead of aluminum. My sister had one of these. She's a bit of a lead foot and would be lucky to ever break 20mpg.

Our 2009 Sedona gets about 21 mpg highway with 7 passengers, the dog, and weekend luggage, and about 14 mpg in town (hilly western PA).
While towing a 5x8 U-Haul during a cross-country camping trip last summer, we averaged about 12 mpg highway, burning about 500 gallons in 15 days. The added weight really makes a difference.
We love this car. It is the best minvan of those we've owned, including a 96 Grand Voyager, 05 Odyssey, and 98 Grand Caravan.
