Hyundai Azera: Details, Details

Power folding side mirrors - granted, they don't make the Hyundai Azera as luxurious as a box of See's candy but it is a nice feature on a sub-$30k car. Those mirrors plus the  power rear sunshade makes me think the car is more like a Hershey's bar... with almonds. Hey, don't mock me, Hershey is good stuff.

Ahhh, the pampering of a Mobil automatic car wash, now the Azera is ready for her close-up.

You can't  underestimate color choice when it comes to new cars...

Think about it, isn't "What color did you get?" like the first or second question most people ask  when you get a new car? Our Azera  is Venetian Blue and I think that color only adds to the car's near luxury persona.

The Azera Really Is a Beautiful car, and the blue adds alot to its looks. but WHY didn't you use a touchless carwash??? those things RUIN cars

if you look closely at the brushes they are the wide bristle cloth brushes that are actually quite gentle on cars and actually get most of the dirt off unlike touchless ones. It's the wire brush car washes that scratch the crap out of your car... and I haven't seen one of those in a while!

We don't always run the cars through the automated washes. Still, I suspect a normal person would resort to this kind of quick clean every once in awhile and how the paint holds up is really just another part of the long term test.

I have a Honda Pilot that I put thru a soft touch wash regularly. I am a fanatic about my finish. I put it thru one day b/c I had an appt. with a client and I couldn't have my vehicle dirty. I was shocked when there wasn't a scratch anywhere after the wash. I now put it thru regularly and the paint is still perfect after 15k. Keep in mind that the Pilots clearcoat and paint is very, very good and will stand up next to the best paint in the business.

Ooooops! Forgot to mention that I see many Azera's here in Northeastern Pa. I have to tell you that this is one very nice car. It has a simplicity and an understated elegance that is very underrated. I have seen a black with black interior and it easily looked like a $40k car. The beige interior doesn't due the Azera justice. If I could get awd in this vehicle, it would be my next vehicle. I am buying a G35x since my wife drives the Pilot

This is a beautiful car, however if Hyundai plans to get my (and many others) attention on anything labeled "near luxury" or "flagship", there are three words they are going to have to learn... High Intensity Discharge.

We have a black '06 Azera with grey interior and at 8000 miles it is wearing very well. One small niggle: the center console cover is a bit flimsy. I personally like the higher seating - kind of like a Volvo we used to have. However, unlike the Volvo, this car has been flawless in reliability. Not one problem and no squeaks or rattles.

As we all know, HID lights are the determining factor in everyone's mind, not price, performance, safety, and reliability. ;)

Azera is nice with features that are nice but Hyundai's not really a luxury brand or is not one made in Korea Korean cars are Kia and Hyundai and they are just new brands. But against some other cars made in different countries like Japan or U.S.A. have a lot of experience in luxury or details and features. Hyundai has not a lot of experience in this but comparing it against BIG WINNERS like the AVALON and LUCERNE it is good and has nice details and features like them and is cheaper than the fully equiped avalon and lucerne but its design isn't as nice or luxurious as thoose two but it has good features and nice but a little plain design.Hyundai's not really good into luxury.

I traded an Avalon in on my Azera. The Azera has as many (or more) luxury touches as an Avalon, but not some of the newer technology (like nav and HID). But for the luxury side of things, it as luxurious as the Avalon and kicks the Lucerne when it come to build quality, interior room, and driving experience. I looked at both before getting an Azera. Like Toyota did several years ago, it is offering more to the consumer than its competitors for far less money. As far as the car goes, it is a great deal. What Hyundai must do next (IMHO) is beef up the quality of their dealerships to offer a more upscale experience/environment.. The coming 08 or 09, even larger rear drive lux car will mean appealing to people who want a Lexus or Infinity type experience at the dealership. And that is the next challenge for Hyundai, not the cars they are building.

I say Avalon is better than the Azera.PERIOD

For at least $5 grand or more over the price of the Azera, it damn well better be a lot better and it isn't. That's the point.

Never will understand why this always becomes a "My car is great, yours is a POS" diatribe. We all have different needs. My wife and I will use our next car for traveling and the trunk space of both the Azera and the Lucerne as opposed to the Avalon is a point that is important to US. This does not make Avalon an unworthy car, but MAY take it out of consideration for us.
