Yesterday I took our long-term Civic Si to the car wash. Nothing significant about the visit except that since the Civic has served its time in our fleet, this might be my last trip to the car wash with the revvy little Honda. Earlier this week we ran the Si through its post-fleet-duty test as we do with all long-term cars. It put down numbers nearly identical to its first test...
Sixty mph arrived in seven seconds flat (it ran 6.9 seconds in its first test). The quarter mile rolled by in 15.2 seconds @ 94.2 mph (first test numbers were 15.1 seconds @ 93.9). It was marginally quicker in the slalom at 68 mph vs. 67.5 in the first go-round and lateral acceleration around the skidpad was down from .86g to .81g, probably thanks to 20,000 miles of tire wear. All in all, not a bad performance.

I have a better Idea... MUAHHAHAHA! Report the Civic as stolen, yank out the drivetrain and place it in the Fit courtesy of HASPORT motor mounts. You will still get about the same gas milage BUT have much more disposable power. I can help with the swap as Ive done plenty, although they were legal. =)

Unfortunately, we'll be selling the Civic Si as soon as possible. We'd love to keep it around, but there are plenty of new 2007 models we'd like to add to the fleet, and we need to use the Civic money for a new purchase.
We won't be adding an Si sedan to the long-term fleet, but an Si sedan road test is nearly finished and will go live on Inside Line in the next week or two.

Im sure you could sell this car for what you nearly paid for it originally. Any idea of what the next vehicle will be?

It's sad to hear that this Si coupe will be leaving your long-term fleet. I've read every entry and kept with all the comments people have added. Thanks for the test and it's unfortunate that you will have to sell the car to acquire and run a test on another car; I'm sure it'll be a vehicle much of the public and many Edmund site visitors would enjoy reading.

Boo im sorry but this is a terrible decision you're shoving off what is inarguably the most popular car on your rite this got more posts than any other long term and a mod off with the new mustang.

This Civic Si is one of the best 20K cars out there, but I am just waiting for honda to do this:
1. Take a Civic DX coupe (weighs 2586 lbs. compared to the Si's 2836)
2. Put Si spec engine, suspension, etc.3. Label it the Civic Si Type-R
If honda does that, the line-up will be complete and I'll be the very first guy to buy that car.Good luck selling your car.

But if you put all the running gear of an Si into a DX it will then weigh about as much as said Si.
