Chevrolet Silverado: 3000 miles to Xmas

My weekend with the Chevy Silverado is a story of man and machine and the kind of emotional connection between the two that can only happen this time of year. It's Christmas time after all, and the Silverado was without complaint as it hauled the family over to the Home Depot for one of those precut and incredibly cheap Christmas trees. We picked out a nice 7 footer, which fit in the Chevy's bed perfectly. I even got to close the tailgate for the two mile ride home...

Felt good.

With the Silverado's odometer fast approaching 3000 miles we have yet to find a defect with the truck. No problems to report, except for dismal fuel economy that is. I averaged 13.1 mpg over 275 miles since Friday. Ouch. No wonder I had to buy a $38.00 Christmas tree.

I believe these fuel economy ratings are misleading. The fact that you bought a truck with the 6.0L VortecMAX doesnt bother me that much, as i am planning on buying one, but that fact that you got a 4:10 rear axle ratio does. I understand that it is almost impossible to find a VortecMAX Chevy that meets your exact criteria, but you are Edmunds. com! That name can get you pretty far when trying to buy a car. Please test one with a 5.3 and a 3.73 or 3.42 and then tell us the Actual gas mileage
