BMW 330i will keep your Coke cold

Last night my sister-in-law called to tell us she had taken my advice and purchased a 2006 BMW 325i sedan. Silver. She called to gush. She's very excited and should be...

It's a great car and I hope it serves her well for many years to come.

Here's the weird part. She was telling me how amped she was to use her new chilled cupholder. "It keeps my Diet Coke cold on the way to work, I love it."

I said, "Anne. That car doesn't have chilled cupholders. They're just normal cupholders. No chill.

"It does so," she said.

Whatever. Confident in my knowledge of the 3-Series, I passed the phone to my wife and rolled my eyes. Well, it's me who's the idiot. This morning I checked the owner's manual. Sure enough, there's a third cupholder in the console and it's chilled. The temperature is controlled by a knurled little wheel, which is cool because I just got to type the word knurled. Guess what else I found in there. A power port and a connection for an external audio device. Who knew?

I better start cracking more owner's manuals. For all I know our long term Hyundai Sonata has a built-in bidet.

Funny how Chrysler is selling a similar feature as basically the only reason to buy the new Sebring, yet BMW doesn't even bother telling people about it.

The best feature that BMW doesn't tell anyone about is that with the manual transmission the car holds on to the brakes for 3 seconds after the driver has let go of them, from a standing start. This prevents the car from rolling backward which is the achilles' heel in hilly areas. The moment the car senses that you have given it gas, it lets go of the brake. Most excellent.

Really would this option sale the car, I find it some what useless as I prefer water, soda/pop bottles w/resalable tops. Although I did try it just to make sure it works, if I've paid for it, it better work.

I prefer them to remove the cup-holder, and give me a jack.
