Noises Off (I wish)

Eight hours into a long weekend with the FJ and I'm already growing tired of the TRD exhuast. Too bad b/c the truck is otherwise great. XM radio, MP3 player input jack, Parrot aftermarket Bluetooth, stunning good looks and a go anywhere attitude. We'll see how I feel come Tuesday morning when I have to give the keys back...

The FJ that I rented was great apart from that exhaust! The noise was just annoying and silly sounding for a truck.

Good thing ya didn't buy it because you don't sound like a guy who likes trucks/sport trucks.
You do sound like a perfect candidate for the Honda Ridgeline.

Yeah you're totally right apart from the fact that my Wrangler Sport has had 45000 miles put on it in the last 3 years, lots of it off roading in the mountains in southern Cali and northern Arizona.
What other judgements do make about people you know nothing about?

"Sport" trucks? Does loud exhaust make a "sport" truck? If so, I have a neighbor with a really sporty '91Nissan pickup complete with mismatched wheels and rust.

Even though the FJ is a real tough truck, the exhaust is irritating in heavy, stop and go traffic and my guess is that it would be even more annoying in low-speed, rock crawling mode. I'm not sure that wanting a quiet, serene ride means you need a "mall only" Ridgeline.

"Sport Truck?" The term, as well as this class of vehicle is pretty much an oxymoron.

According to most dictionaries, the word "truck" has everything to do with "work," and nothing to do with "sport." Somehow this has been lost with many so-called truck buyers.

Interesting comment about the use of the word "sport" with regard to trucks. Our Long Term FJ Cruiser is certainly fun, capable, and rugged but I don't think I can get behind the idea of it having any sporting intentions.

The TRD "sport" exhaust option on the FJ is especially flatulent. It drones on and on at freeway cruising speed in a most unpleasant and decidely non-sporty way. I can't believe NVH-obsessive Toyota let this one slip through.

This coming from a guy who's first car was a V8 Ranchero with dual exhaust and blown-out glass-pack side pipes -- and after that, a 454 Dually with a similar uncorked setup. Noise is fine with me, as long as there is power and muscle in the sound, not Phhbbbbtttt.

The standard FJ exhaust was a ton better. A bit quieter, but more importantly, unobtrusive when cruising.

Not buying it actualsize, according to frontier2k7 you sound like a perfect candidate for a mint condition Subaru Brat....

actualsize - you've summed it up perfectly.
