Pontiac Solstice: Pumped

With a cabin that could make even Gary Coleman feel cramped, the Pontiac Solstice is one tiny convertible.  And small cars tend to have equally small gas tanks. What does this mean for you the driver? Frequent stops at the pump.

The weekend was uneventful...
No road trips; just my 11-mile trek home from work, and a few jaunts to the grocery store, newsstand and a couple of local restuarants. Still, the Solstice ate through almost half a tank of gas, necessitating a fill-up. Relatively speaking, the car's tank isn't that miniscule. It holds 13 gallons; its segment-mate, the Mazda Miata, holds 12.7. But it's definitely part of a class that isn't exactly known for its range. That's the price you pay for getting in bed with an ultra-compact roadster.

Since adding the Solstice to our fleet, we've averaged 22 miles per gallon.
