Well, I guess if I had to break down somewhere, this is as good a place as any. I'm sitting in the Lost Coast Brewery in downtown Eureka, California. And since I won't be doing any more driving today, I'm having my second Downtown Brown ale with lunch.
Thanks to Daimler/Chrysler roadside assistance, the Commander is in the hands of Harper Motors, a Ford/Kia/Jeep Dealer in Eureka, California. The dealer's friendly courtesy shuttle driver not only picked up the wife and kids while I rode in the tow truck with the injured Jeep, he schlepped us all a few miles south to the Lost Coast Brewery, a wonderful restaurant and brewer of most excellent microbrewed beer. I recommend that you pair the carnitas tacos with your Downtown Brown.
And they have free wireless internet.
We're waiting for my folks to arrive to shuttle us the final 120 miles to their place in Oregon, while the Jeep sits overnight, at least, waiting for a new starter motor to get delivered from San Francisco, nearly three-hundred miles away. Apparently the solenoid is alive and well, but the starter won't even try to turn the flywheel. Slacker.
Dan Edmunds, Director of Automotive Testing @ the same mileage as before.

I'm sorry you're having trouble, but I must say I'm enjoying the real-time blog posting.

I'm both hurt and relieved that you haven't called me about this break-down.
Three cheers for the self-sufficient!

I feel bad for you as well, but at least you weren't in the middle of Utah, 50-plus miles (in any direction) from the nearest sign of civilization...
Hope they get this fixed fast.
