Jeep Commander: It's a state of mind

I've concluded that you have to be in the right mood to like this Jeep. If you're in a hurry it's not much fun. The throttle is touchy, the steering is slow and there's so much slop in the suspension that you can't take turns at anything more than walking pace. Fitting it into tight parking spots is also a pain and getting in and out is a bit of a climb too.
Then again, if you're not in much of a hurry the Commander is great. That suspension that's so soft around corners makes it pillow soft in a straight line. And if you ease into the throttle it's not nearly as jumpy off the line. Add in the couch like seats, simple controls and big sunroof and the Jeep is a pretty nice cruiser on a Sunday afternoon.

I also noticed that our Commander has developed a few rattles in the interior. Nothing too annoying, just a few interior panels that aren't quite as rock solid as they were 10,000 miles ago. On a more positive note, the cargo area that we've panned for its high load floor isn't all bad. I managed to fit several moving boxes in there without much of a hassle and the cargo net proved useful when it came to securing a handful of small plants that I didn't want rolling around in back.

I'm glad to see the evaluation is still active. I've enjoyed the observations and it has helped me in my decision making process.
